After Little B's basketball game this past Saturday we traveled 2 hours to Richmond, VA to attend our first LEGO KidsFest. Holy LEGO bricks Batman! I knew it would be a lot of people but I thought that because it was snowing that it may not be as crowded. Boy was I wrong. There were kids, adults and LEGO bricks as far as you could see once you were out on the convention center floor.

I saw all the Lego bricks on the floor and I cringed a little as I thought of accidentally stepping on all of them barefoot ha ha. Moms worst nightmare right? It was a selling strategy for Bissell though as they were promoting their vacuum at Lego KidsFest in games and demos for picking things off of carpet (even lego bricks).

As we entered the convention center the lines were long but moved surprisingly quickly. We were in line only about 15 minutes. Our first stop was the Lego Duplo section. These are Baby B's favorite legos. He wasn't happy when the lion roared as he was inside of it though as you can probably tell by the face he made when I took his picture. It roared as soon as he got inside which freaked him out a little.

Our next stop was the giant brick pile. I thought my boys would be excited to jump in and play but neither of the two wanted to go in. As you can see other kids dove right in. We kept on moving through and our next stop was some building areas and race ramps. My mom and the two boys all three built cars and raced them down a ramp. Little B was happy his car was first to the bottom of the ramp, even if his car did shatter all to pieces as it hit the bottom. He didn't care he was still first.

I wish I could have gotten an over head photo of the Creation Nation map. You could build a creation and tell the crew where you were from and they placed the creations in your state. As we were going by I did get a shot of Texas. I was surprised at how much of the states were filled up that were not on the east coast which would be where we were. Apparently Lego fans like to travel 😉

The youngest was more of a sport for Mama and posed with many of the statues with me. He couldn't believe that each one was made of nothing but Lego bricks. His favorite was the Lightening McQueen car and the Spongebob setting.

We spent more time at the market place, the retail store, the reading rest stops, the Lemonade concession stand ($4 for a 24 oz fresh squeezed lemonade). We also visited the Lego Chima area and let the boys test their speedor battling skills. We were at LEGO KidsFest for 3 hours and still didn't get to see/do everything that they had to offer. I think my Mom and I had just as much fun at LEGO KidsFest as the boys did. It took me 3 hours to get us home because the snow I mentioned when we got there, well it was areas (Appomattox, VA) that the snow was really bad on the highways and I had to drive about 15 miles an hour to safely get us home Saturday night. It was the first time I had ever driven in snow and in a minivan at that. We made it home safely though. Snow covered van with fingernail marks left in the steering wheel and all. We all had a great time and hope to be able to attend LEGO KidsFest again so we can get to see and do even more.
