Did you know teachers spend about $400 on classroom supplies with money out of their own pockets? I love shopping for school supplies at Staples. Though this is a sponsored post for Staples, when I learned that Staples and Katy Perry had teamed up to help support teachers and education with the #StaplesForStudents program, including a sweepstakes, I knew that it was something to share with my followers who are parents of students and our contest/sweepstakes entering fans.
Have you heard of DonorsChoose.org?
DonorsChoose.org has helped fund classroom projects to help lighten the heavy burden of the classroom expense from teachers. I have used the site myself before to make donations to local classrooms at my sons' elementary school so believe me when I say it's a wonderful thing! I gave 2 classrooms $250 each to help them reach their fund goals for their work stations for kindergartners, and another classroom for books.
Staples and Katy Perry have teamed up to produce a PSA to talk about supporting education through DonorsChoose.org and how anyone can donate to DonorsChoose.org directly or through Staples online and/or in stores. As part of the program, Staples has donated $1 million dollars to support classrooms! The Staples for Students program support has included classroom support of teachers, classroom supply drives, donations for educational projects, and so much more.
Now through September 10th those who are at least 13 years old can enter for a chance to win a $50,000 scholarship and a VIP experience with Katy Perry herself. One grand prize winner will win the $50k scholarship plus a trip for two to LA to meet Katy Perry and (4) first prize winners will win a trip to Los Angeles to meet Katy Perry as well. How do you get entered to win? Fans who spend $25 or more at Staples will receive a unique code on their receipt to enter at StaplesForStudents.com.
