The weather is weird in Virginia. One year it was 80 degrees on Christmas day and then snowing in March. One time of year that I love is fall. Virginia has a lot to offer year round but VA fall weather is my favorite. The colors, the flavors, the things to do and see, it's become a tradition to go to as many places we can each year to get our kids (and ourselves) as much fun as we can pack in. The hay rides, apple and pumpkin picking, the festivals. There is so much in our area and I want to help others see what I love. After all Virginia is for lovers.

I have lived in VA all of my 30-ish years, Ok I admit I'm 33. This is a list of places to visit/things to do that I have either grown up loving or have recently found and love during the autumn.

fall festivals and events around Lynchburg Virginia

• Jeter Farm fall festival & country store- Open 9/30-10/29. You'll feel like a kid again with a day on the farm. They have locally made products, a corn maze, u-pick pumpkins, farm animals, and fun/unique farm activities. Admission $10, kids 2 and under free. Hours- Fridays 3-6pm, Saturdays 9am-6pm, and Sundays 12pm-6pm.
• Owen Farm corn maze and pumpkin patch Fall weekend activities start 9/23 and 9/29. Has barnyard friends, hayrides, pony rides, train rides, corn maze, pick your own pumpkins, play area, and more. Open Sat. 10am-5pm, Sundays 1:30-6pm. $7 adults, $12 kids 5+, $8 kids 2-4, $4 under age 2 for pumpkin and pony ride.
• White Fall farm giant hay bale castle (only 1 in VA), pick your pumpkin, hayrides, grain pile, pumpkin painting, pumpkin hunt, and more. Open weekends 10/8-10/30. $10/person with 3 tickets towards pumpkin/gourd purchase. Fridays 3-7pm, Saturdays 9am-7pm, Sundays 2-7pm.

• Yoders Farm corn maze, pumpkins, snack shack, and farm store. Open 9/22-¼ Fridays & Saturdays 10am-10pm. Farm visit is always free. They do charge $6 for corn maze tickets for 6+ and hayrides are $2.50 for 6+.
• Layman Family Farms fall festival, corn maze, and pumpkin patch. Open weekends only, 9/16-11/11. In October on Fridays and Saturdays they also have the Haunted Harvest. $10/person ages 3+ (October price increases). They have an 8 acre corn maze, pumpkin patch hayride, duck races, corn crib, tunnel slide, corn hole, and more. Season passes are $25. They do offer discount to military and seniors.
• Dark Leaf Farms opening day 9/24 from 1-5pm. Pick your own pumpkins. Price is by the pumpkin I think.

• Smith Mountain Lake Wine festival 9/23 from 11am-6pm and 9/24 from 11am-5pm. Rain or shine. 29 VA wineries, 85+ craft and food vendors, live bands. Taster tickets $35 $25 non taster. Kids 12 and under free.
• Drumheller's Orchard We have had many school field trips to Drumheller's. They have a lot of apples in the fall (and peaches in the summer). We were always there during apple picking. They have a festival 9/30 & 10/01 as well as 10/21-10/22 both weekends from 9am-5pm.
• Rebec Vineyards Wine & Garlic festival 10/14-10/15 10am-5pm. Always a stinkin' good time. Good food, good wine, good entertainment. 9 wineries, 3 stages. Taster tickets $30, no taster tickets $20. Kids 12 and under free.
• DeVault Family Vineyards Fall Family Fun Festival 10/21 from 3-11pm. Bounce house, indoor pool, pumpkin related activities and contests, as well as wine, beer, food, and music. Event admission $12-$25.

There is also the Blue Ridge Parkway to take a scenic drive to see all the beautiful fall colors and mill. The Railroad fest in Appomattox, ghost tours downtown Lynchburg, the Climax Sorghum festival, and if you check the Lynchburg VA facebook events you can find many more.
