More than 15,000 adults and 15,000 children in the US are given the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes each year. Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease where a person's pancreas stops producing insulin.
I enjoy being a part of walks that help raise money for a good cause. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation holds more than 200 walks a year and has raised $1 billion dollars to date. If you join the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes walk you're not only helping a exceptional cause you are helping your own family better their own health. McGeorge Toyota is putting together a team to walk in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s annual Walk to Cure Diabetes 5k on September 15 at Byrd Park in Richmond, VA at 2pm.
Team McGeorge Cares has raised $5,050 so far but still have a ways to go to reach their goal of $15,000. You can help Team McGeorge Cares and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. For each person that registers to be a part of the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes walk will receive a "Team McGeorge Cares" shirt and McGeorge Toyota will make a $50 donation in their name. To register you can stop in to McGeorge Toyota (9319 West Broad St.) this Thursday, August 22, 2013 between 10 am and 12 noon and you can talk to a representative from JDRF. No worries if you can't make it by the dealership on the 22nd. You can still get involved. You can contact Courtney Taylor by phone (804) 755-9226 or by email ctaylor@mcgeorgetoyota.com or you can donate to Team McGeorge Cares directly online.
